Today we reached a major milestone in the growth of the business — we set our first ADU down in Southern California.

I’m very proud of this accomplishment for many reasons, but most importantly because of our resilience. From the beginning, this project was out of our comfort zone due to its location. Ventura is a 6-hour drive from our production facility in Oakland. That’s 6 long haul hours for 2 container-built modules (each at least 10,000lbs) on a freeway with bumps, turns, and other unknown factors.

Beyond the simple logistics of the delivery, lift, and set was working with an unfamiliar building department on a statewide construction program that is relatively nascent to local municipalities.

They say “when the going gets tough, the tough get going,” and I agree, but perseverance is only one element of success.

Work hard, yes, but work smart, best. We should learn to rely on the decisions and systems we’ve made along the way to support us in challenging scenarios. The hard work we’ve done in the past should set us up for success in the future.
